The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law "On Amendments to Certain Laws Regarding the Awarding of Scientific Degrees", which resolves the issue of awarding scientific degrees.

According to the Minister of Education and Science, Serhiy Shkarlet, these changes to the legislation are designed to unblock the process of defending theses for obtaining the degrees of Candidate and Doctor of Sciences.

"Recipients will be able to defend themselves in permanent doctor's specialized scientific councils without setting time limits," Skarlet emphasized.

The Ministry of Education notes that the adopted law comprehensively resolves the issue of awarding academic degrees by amending the laws "On Higher Education", "On Education", "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activities", "On Pre-Vocational Higher Education".

In addition, the Ministry of Education and Culture reported that the process of attestation of personnel for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy will be improved.
