The final version of the Concept of the New Ukrainian School was approved. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The Ministry of Education notes that after a public discussion, the element "new educational environment" was added to the formula of the New Ukrainian School, and the importance of psychological training of the teacher was also prescribed.
"The concept of the New Ukrainian School is the result of the joint efforts of officials of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the public. During the public discussion, the MES received more than 60 letters with substantive corrections and comments to the Concept. Most of the sent proposals were taken into account," the Ministry of Education emphasizes.
The department also reported that the public discussion showed which topics needed further discussion and detailing. In particular, there are five such key topics: partnership pedagogy, school and teacher autonomy, determining learning outcomes, innovation implementation mechanisms, and funding issues.
Liliya Hrynevych reported that by the end of May, new state standards for primary schools will be written, focused on the competencies that students should possess after completing each individual stage of education. State standards will come into effect in 2018, but already in the 2017/18 school year, the new primary school standards will be tested in some schools in all regions.
"The main idea of the new school is to move from a school of knowledge to a school of competencies, which include knowledge, skills and attitudes based on a value platform. In accordance with this, state standards should be updated, a new content of education should be formed, new teaching methods should be introduced, and the structure of the school should be changed," said Liliya Hrynevych.
