In a quarter of the school canteens, violations of the norms of children's healthy nutrition were found.
This was announced by the head of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, Vladyslava Magaletska, during a seminar devoted to reforming school meals.
According to her, more than 3,500 daily school menus have been analyzed since the beginning of the year. In 800 cases (23%), violations of healthy eating norms were found.
In addition, last year's inspections showed that every second school had violations related to unsatisfactory material and technical condition, inadequate water supply, lack of provision of quality drinking water and other problems.
The State Production and Consumer Service reminds that the new Sanitary Regulations for general secondary education institutions will be in effect from January 1.
"The most important thing that distinguishes this document from the sanitary rules of 2001 is new approaches to the organization of food. The requirements of the document are based on the principles of healthy nutrition recommended by the World Health Organization. Schoolchildren will be able to feel the corresponding changes from September 1 this year," the State Food Safety Service emphasizes.
As you know, the new Sanitary Regulations set requirements for food products and ready meals that can be offered to children. In particular, a number of restrictions on the content of salt, sugar and fat are provided, taking into account modern trends in healthy eating and WHO recommendations.
