The Ministry of Education has developed a basic component of preschool education.

The draft document was submitted for public discussion (https://mon.gov.ua/ua/news/mon-proponuye-dlya-gromadskogo-obgovorennya-bazovij-komponent-doshkilnoyi-osviti).

The basic component is the state standard of education, which contains norms and provisions that determine state requirements for the level of development, education and upbringing of a preschool child.

In addition, the component determines the conditions under which the appropriate level of education of a child of older preschool age becomes achievable.

After the approval of the draft document, the fulfillment of the requirements of the basic component of preschool education will become mandatory for all preschool education institutions, regardless of subordination, types and forms of ownership, and other forms of obtaining preschool education.

The authors of the basic component project note that its norms are oriented towards world trends and requests of Ukrainian society.

"It is aimed at equal access to preschool education for all children of early and preschool age, in particular children with special educational needs, at preserving universal, European and national educational traditions of Ukrainian society, at social support of the family and family relationships, at solving issues of professional self-realization and improving the qualifications of employees of preschool education institutions," the description of the main provisions of the draft document says.

The basic component affirms the child's education as a starting platform for personal development, as the first and mandatory step in the system of continuous education.

The main provisions of the basic component of preschool education contain a description of the values of preschool education, the basic principles of implementing the standards of preschool education, the conditions for the implementation of the basic component of preschool education, the interaction of preschool education institutions with children's families, the content and organization of the educational process, the continuity between preschool and primary education in the implementation of development prospects child etc.

Public discussion of the draft document will continue until November 26, 2020.
