The city authorities call for a more rational use of the premises of educational institutions in order to create proper conditions for schoolchildren to study.
"In Kyiv, there has been an increase in the number of first-rate units for several years in a row. And this year there was a need to open 98 additional first grades in the capital, which must be equipped with everything necessary," said Deputy Head of the KMDA Hanna Starostenko during the inspection of the readiness of educational institutions of the Obolon district of Kyiv for the new academic year.
According to her, the trend of increasing the number of children in schools continues in the capital. Today, more than 40 students are enrolled in a class in some educational institutions. At the same time, there are institutions in the capital that are filled to half their capacity.
"Such a situation requires us to make new responsible management decisions. In order to ensure a high-quality educational process, we offer to place classes of overcrowded educational institutions in free premises of neighboring schools. There are actually such opportunities in every district of the city," said Hanna Starostenko.
Thus, gymnasium No. 143 is twice as full, and the neighboring school No. 231 is operating at half its capacity. The city allocated funds for the renovation of the school premises, and from now on, the 3 primary classes of the gymnasium will be located in the neighboring school.
