In connection with the spread of cases of poisoning of schoolchildren with gaseous substances and for the organization of safety measures in places where preschool children, pupils and students stay, the Ministry of Education and Science recommends strengthening security and safety measures in all educational institutions.
The corresponding letter was sent on May 22, 2018, to the departments, education and science departments of the regional and Kyiv city state administrations, to the heads of secondary, professional, and higher education institutions.
In particular, the MES recommended strengthening security and restricting access to the territory of educational institutions for persons who do not directly participate in the educational process. It is also about strengthening control over the access regime in order to prevent the introduction of poisonous, explosive and other objects that threaten life and health into the premises of educational institutions.
In addition, the following recommendations are indicated in the letter:
- Constantly conduct clarifications for students, parents and employees regarding behavior in the event of situations that threaten their safety and health.
- Involve employees of the State Service for Emergency Situations and law enforcement agencies in such work.
- Develop and distribute among pupils, students, pedagogic and scientific-pedagogical workers a memo on the rules for dealing with discovered suspicious objects.
- Provide prompt notification of law enforcement agencies in the event of detection of suspicious persons or objects that may pose a threat to health and life in educational institutions and in the adjacent territories.
