The European Commission presented the new Work Program "Horizon 2020", which covers the 2018, 2019 and 2020 budget years and provides funding of about 30 billion euros.
"Horizon 2020" is the largest Framework Program of the European Union for research and innovation. Participation in this program gives scientists, researchers, representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises the opportunity to conduct advanced research, implement innovative ideas, and contribute not only to the development of the economy of their country, but also to the creation of a better future for the planet.
"Horizon 2020" is a program "open to the whole world" and offers great prospects both for participants from EU member states and associated countries, as well as for researchers, universities, research organizations, companies, non-governmental organizations from other countries of the world. The current Work Program includes thirty flagship initiatives with a budget of more than 1 billion euros with individual countries.
The new Work Program is also aimed at:
– support for innovations that create markets;
– support of political priorities of the EC (low-carbon, climate-resistant future, "circular" economy, digitization and transformation of European industry and services, security, migration);
- strengthening of interdisciplinary research, "interesting" science ("frontier research", "curiosity-driven science", "blue sky science");
- simplification of approaches to ensuring financing of participants.
We remind you that in 2015, Ukraine became an associate member of the European Union Framework Program for Research and Innovation "Horizon 2020". This significantly expanded our opportunities to participate in the program, in particular, increased access to financial instruments, and Ukraine can now influence the formation of the content of the program.
