Prime Minister Groysman instructed the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Science, together with the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, to meet with the ambassadors of the EU countries and explain to them some of the provisions of the new Law "On Education" regarding the use of languages of national minorities. Groysman told about this while talking to journalists.
"I gave instructions to the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and Culture, invited acting heads of the Committee on Education of the Verkhovna Rada to jointly hold a meeting with the ambassadors of European countries and fully explain the details of the law - what mechanisms will work," Groisman said.
He emphasized that Ukraine is committed to democratic values and fulfills its obligations to respect the rights of national minorities. However, the state language is Ukrainian.
"And the law on education makes it possible to ensure normal access to the languages of national minorities, and at the same time to provide new opportunities for the development of the Ukrainian language," he emphasized.
