In order to prevent improper use of funds allocated to educational institutions, as well as abuse of parental contributions, the law on education includes a rule according to which schools must publish information about their expenses. Minister of Education and Science Liliya Hrynevych said this at a press conference, Ukrinform reports.
"In the draft law on education, which was adopted in the first reading, we wrote down a mandatory norm for every educational institution of Ukraine to publish on their Internet pages a clear report on their income from both budgetary sources and from parents, and their expenses, and therefore, everything will become transparent and clear, and parents will be able to control and understand how much money this educational institution received from the budgets - both at the state and local levels, and for what exactly," said Hrynevych.
The minister noted that it is also necessary to overcome such a phenomenon as tutoring, when teachers deliberately do not provide all the necessary material in lessons, thus stimulating extra classes.
"We also work with parent organizations to detect this in time. We understand that it is necessary to work on raising the social status of the teacher. And the fact that we advanced this year along the unified tariff grid, raised the social status of teachers by two tariff categories, as well as the general increase in teachers' salaries to 50% - this is a step towards the teacher. And we expect that teachers will take a step towards the reform," said the Minister of Education and Science, Liliya Hrynevych.
