For the next 7 years, Ukrainian universities will have free access to another modern service for checking scientific works for plagiarism. This became possible thanks to the Memorandum that the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine signed with the Antiplagiat company on April 4, 2018.
"Now the Ministry is receiving comments that academic councils do not have a sufficient arsenal of tools to check works for plagiarism. Therefore, the MES strives to provide higher education institutions with as many opportunities as possible to eradicate academic dishonesty. It is important for us that the proposed resources can be used free of charge not only by academic councils, but also by post-graduate and doctoral students," said the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Liliya Hrynevych.
The document provides for free access to the Unicheck service, where scientists will be able to check the thesis before submitting it to specialized scientific councils. It is important that higher education institutions (their special councils) independently decide on the issue of using the service. For its part, the Ministry of Education will promote cooperation between universities and the Antiplagiat company, which will provide access to the anti-plagiarism check service.
On the basis of this memorandum, each institution of higher education can conclude a cooperation agreement with the company and use the benefits of the service.
"The memorandum under which the Ministry of Education and Culture cooperates with companies is a model. Therefore, minimal changes are made to the text of the document. This is done in order to create equal conditions for all parties," added the Minister.
Also, the proposed service will automatically determine the citation of literary and scientific literature, laws and methodical phrases that are not plagiarism.
We will remind you that earlier the Ministry of Education and Culture signed a memorandum to improve anti-plagiarism checks with the company Plagiat.pl, which offers a modern system for detecting plagiarism.
