The President of Ukraine signed Law of Ukraine No. 2145-VIII "On Education", adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on September 5, 2017.
The adoption of this Law will allow for a deep comprehensive educational reform that will increase the quality of education and the competitiveness of the young generation in the labor market. It will ensure real steps towards the inclusion of Ukraine in the European educational space.
"This is one of the most important reforms, because the future of the country does not depend on any other reform as much as on the educational one," Petro Poroshenko noted.
The President especially emphasized that the law increases the role of the state Ukrainian language in the educational process. The law provides equal opportunities for everyone, as it guarantees every graduate a high level of language skills necessary for a successful career in Ukraine.
At the same time, the Head of State emphasized the importance of strictly observing the humanitarian rights of national minorities living on the territory of Ukraine during education.
"Ukraine has demonstrated and will continue to demonstrate such an attitude towards the rights of national minorities, which corresponds to our international obligations, is in harmony with European standards and is a model for neighboring countries," Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
The President also appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education to conduct the necessary consultations with European partners, including the Council of Europe.
