Scientists from the University of Oregon (USA) found that online learning is more effective than traditional. For this, they made a special training program and analyzed the results. This is written by NewWest Media with reference to Eurekalert.
University professors have created an online program of four interactive lessons. 13 US high schools, 2,300 students and 71 teachers participated in the study.
Before the start of the study, scientists assessed the basic knowledge of all experiment participants. According to the results of the tests, participants who were engaged in traditional learning with the help of textbooks remembered only 5% of new material. Students who took the online course acquired 18% more knowledge in mathematics and other natural sciences. They also better understood English grammar and vocabulary on 15%.
According to the researchers, the test results lead to important conclusions. Children who find it difficult to learn natural sciences at school will get new opportunities. Because in the case of poor learning of material in an educational institution, it will be more difficult for children to work in the fields of technology, programming and mathematics.
Online learning consists of video lessons, game-based learning, communication with teachers and classmates. The program has a simple interface, as well as the ability to take electronic notes.
