The Board of the Ministry of Education and Science approved the draft Road Map, which defines the main directions of the integration of Ukrainian science into Europe.

In particular, it is planned that the integration of Ukrainian science into the European Research Area (ERA-UA) will take place according to 6 main priorities.

The Roadmap project determined that the main priorities for the European integration of Ukrainian science are the development of effective national research systems, optimal transnational cooperation and competition, an open labor market, gender equality in research, optimal exchange and transfer of scientific knowledge, as well as international cooperation.

The draft Roadmap was previously approved by the Scientific Committee of the National Council for the Development of Science and Technology without comments. Soon it will be finally approved by order of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

According to Deputy Minister of Education and Science Maksym Strikha, joining the European Research Area will give Ukraine the opportunity to better develop its scientific and technological potential, gradually approaching EU policy and law in the field of science and technology.

"The accumulation of European experience strengthens the national scientific base, which is an integral component of sustainable economic growth. For example, integration will give us access to new markets and access to new knowledge, and these are additional opportunities for the development of the national research system," said the Deputy Minister of Education and Science.

The MES also emphasizes that a broad working group was involved in the creation of the Road Map for about 4 months. It included 60 representatives of various organizations and departments. A wide range of experts were also involved in the work. Before developing the Roadmap, the group researched analogues of this document in various EU member states: Austria, Finland, Germany, Estonia, etc.
