In Ukraine, there was a need to introduce an internationally recognized certification exam in Ukrainian as a foreign language. This was discussed at the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, Minister of Education Liliya Hrynevych, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Academy of Sciences, institutions of higher education and public organizations.
The government reports that the need to introduce a certification exam arose due to the increase in the number of citizens who want to confirm their knowledge of the Ukrainian language.
An important stage in the introduction of the certification exam is the approval of a standard that will comply with the regulatory documents of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).
According to the vice-prime minister, it is necessary to resolve organizational issues with the introduction of the certification exam as soon as possible.
As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to create a working group with the participation of leading linguists and practicing teachers, which by the end of the year will summarize all existing approaches and develop a single standard for passing the certification exam in Ukrainian as a second/foreign language.
