Since January 19, free breakfasts for students of grades 1-4 have been canceled in the capital's schools. Funds for the organization of free meals are provided for students of preferential categories 1-11 grades.
At the same time, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko instructed the Kyiv City State Administration to prepare and introduce changes to the capital's budget that would allow for free meals for schoolchildren in grades 1-4. Oleksiy Reznikov, secretary of the Kyiv City Council, stated this at a briefing on Wednesday.
He noted that this will increase the costs of the metropolitan government, but "socially, this is an important thing."
"The only thing is that we need to find a compromise with the parents, maybe think of a joint program regarding food, so that it is not just a fact of its existence, but it is of high quality," summed up the secretary of the Kyiv Council.
