The Ministry of Health assures that they lowered the passing score of the medical exam because they wanted to support students in a difficult academic year. About this with reference to the comment of the Deputy Minister of Health Iryna Mykychak, Ukrainian Pravda reports. Life.
The Ministry of Health also notes that the "Step" exam does not determine a graduate's professional readiness.
"Krok" evaluates the great work of students throughout the course. And "Step-2" is an exam upon completion of a medical university. Every year, the limit of "Step" and knowledge assessment is reviewed by the ministry, a certain percentage qualification is established," said Mykychak.
According to her, this year there were generally extremely difficult conditions for the educational process.
"Therefore, the Ministry of Health, at the suggestion of the Testing Center and scientific and pedagogical workers, believes that we can reduce the percentage qualification of the KROC in order to relieve psychological stress for our students and support them morally in this situation," the ministry said.
In addition, the department notes that the exam does not determine a doctor's professional readiness.
"It should be noted that "Step" by itself does not determine the professional readiness of a graduate of a medical university. Further studies at the university continue, and in addition to theoretical knowledge, the assessment of practical skills is extremely important," said the Deputy Minister of Health.
She also expressed confidence that the quality of knowledge is not influenced by the exam, but by the consciousness and readiness of each student for self-study.
"We are currently working with international agencies to ensure that this test-licensed exam in Ukraine takes place on the same basis as in European countries. That is, for it to be the only exam that would be accepted in foreign universities, and really properly assess the theoretical and practical training of our graduates," added Iryna Mykychak.
