The Cabinet of Ministers approved the plan of measures for the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Medical Education in Ukraine for 2019-2021. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Health.
It is planned that during this time new standards of education, modern programs and tools for teaching students will appear, money for continuous professional development will go to doctors, and the state will promote the qualitative development of medical science.
In particular, educational standards in the field of knowledge "Health care" will be developed taking into account modern trends in the development of medical education in cooperation with the World Federation of Medical Education and other leading international experts.
Educational programs and curricula will be updated in accordance with new standards and with the active participation of higher education institutions.
In the future, a unified state qualification exam will be implemented, including an international exam on the basics of medicine. Students will receive modern learning tools. In particular, we are talking about electronic educational materials, translation of new textbooks, access to peer-reviewed publications in the field of health care, which are indexed by the Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed scientometric databases.
Students and teachers will improve their knowledge of English. Comprehensive programs for improving the level of knowledge of the English language will be developed, as well as requirements for knowledge of English will be established. Teachers will improve their qualifications at internships in foreign institutions of higher education and health care institutions, exchange programs with foreign countries, and international conferences.
A new, effective internship model, in particular, a transparent electronic system for the distribution of graduates, should be implemented.
Money for continuing professional development will go to doctors for those educational activities that are of interest to specific doctors and improve specific medical practice.
It is also planned to create a state program to promote academic mobility, improve conditions for conducting scientific research in the field of health care, and strengthen the principles of academic integrity.
