Quality education during a stay in hospitals - the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health are working together on the necessary changes

Effective interaction of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health will contribute to the creation of educational space in children's hospitals. This was discussed during the meeting of the working group at the Ministry of Education and Culture on the creation of prerequisites for the education of students who are temporarily being treated in health care institutions.

"First of all, our main and important task is to create all the necessary conditions so that children who temporarily do not attend educational institutions due to illness can continue to study. That is why, together with the Ministry of Health and representatives of the public organization "Small heart with art", we are starting to develop the concept and all the necessary legislative framework to start this process as soon as possible", noted the Director General of the Directorate of Inclusive and Extracurricular Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture Larisa Samsonova.

Currently, only single classes at hospitals are functioning in Ukraine, in particular, in "Okhmatdyt" in Kyiv and Lviv. In such classes, teachers from the school to which the child is assigned come to the child. In some hospitals, students have report cards, according to which they continue their education in a regular school after discharge.

Larisa Samsonova also added that the experience of Finland will be taken into account for the development of the concept of providing educational services in children's hospitals. There, similar educational institutions at hospitals have been operating for 100 years.

The director of one of these Finnish schools, Asko Peraniemi, who was present at the meeting, said that there are a total of 28 schools attached to hospitals in Finland, as according to the laws of the state, every large hospital must have a school.

When enrolling a child in such a school, the teacher preliminarily conducts a series of conversations with the student's rehabilitator and other doctors in order to effectively build the educational process.

Asko Peraniemi also informed that his school has 8 full-time teachers, 3 part-time teachers, 4 assistants, a nurse, a psychologist, a secretary, a school director and his deputy.

At the same time, Larisa Samsonova spoke about the tasks to be solved by the working group. In particular, it is to determine health care institutions where schools will be created, develop relevant documents and sanitary standards, train teachers, etc.
