The 2018 budget allocated UAH 46.8 million for modern equipment of Ukrainian language classrooms in schools with the language of instruction of national minorities. This was emphasized by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Liliya Hrynevych, during a working meeting on improving teaching methods and textbooks on the Ukrainian language, which took place during the Minister's working trip to the Chernivtsi region.

"I have repeatedly observed that the equipment of Ukrainian language classrooms in schools with the language of instruction of national minorities is carried out according to the residual principle. This cannot happen, because the Ukrainian language classrooms, where it is studied by children with a different mother tongue, must be well equipped with didactic materials, which helps non-native speakers learn it better," said Liliya Hrynevych.

She also emphasized that, according to the resolution adopted today at the Government meeting, teachers of the Ukrainian language will receive the maximum level of allowance of 20%.

"According to the adopted resolution, the size of the maximum allowance for teaching staff increases from 20% to 30%. The lower limit of such an allowance is also set - not less than 5%. But the lower limit for teachers of the Ukrainian language in schools with the language of instruction of national minorities, as well as teachers who teach according to the standard of the New Ukrainian School, will be at the level of 20%," the Minister said.
