Education reform is one of the fundamental changes that cannot wait and that must be started today if we want to get results in 12 years. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this on Channel 5.
He said that the educational reform affects all spheres of a child's life - from kindergarten to a higher educational institution that provides fundamental knowledge.
"The first thing we need to do is to ensure children's free access to kindergartens. We have 75,000 children still "standing" in queues. It is unacceptable. Last year, 26,000 places in kindergartens were created - primarily at the expense of local budgets (which were increased through redistribution of powers and financial decentralization). It is obvious that in three years we can completely get rid of queues at kindergartens," the Prime Minister said.
Next is the school, which should instill in children new knowledge, skills and competences. "In order for us to get a result after 12 years, we need to start this reform today. And it is very important that this reform is not delayed," Volodymyr Groysman emphasized.
The next position is vocational education. "We need qualified production personnel. Talk to businesses, entrepreneurs, ask if there are enough personnel for work? ... The vocational education system is not adequate in relation to the labor market. And we need to make sure that the staff we are training coincides with the demand in the real sector of the economy. This is another important task," the Head of Government emphasized.
He paid particular attention to the development of science, where in fact there is no full-fledged system for neither support, nor request, nor the transfer of scientific developments into the real economy. "And we are also working here, creating the Council of Innovations. Ukraine has enormous potential, the most important thing is intelligence, we have it," Volodymyr Groysman added.
