The President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, congratulated the young Ukrainians who won the 2016 international student Olympiads in various subjects. This is reported by the official online representation of the President of Ukraine.

30 schoolchildren from all regions represented Ukraine at the international school Olympiads. 22 young Ukrainians received awards, including 3 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze medals.

"You have protected not only the high level of Ukrainian education, but also the honor of the schools, lyceums and gymnasiums where you study. This is actually a defense of Ukraine's honor," said the President and added that "Ukraine has proven itself in the world for a long time and firmly holds this high bar as a state with extremely high scientific potential."

"If you have a thirst for knowledge, then you will surely win, you will be able to overcome the competition," the Head of State said.

The President reminded that Ukrainian IT specialists, mathematicians, designers, engineers, chemists, biological scientists, etc. are valued all over the world.

Petro Poroshenko noted that a program has been developed to stimulate participation and victories in the Olympiads, in particular, we are talking about presidential scholarships and admission to the best higher educational institutions of Ukraine, as well as incentives for teachers whose students win competitions.

The young scientists shared with the President their impressions of participating in international student competitions and discussed the possibilities of both encouraging Ukrainian youth to scientific activities and expanding the participation of Ukrainians in international student Olympiads in various subjects.
