With the beginning of 2017, it is planned to raise the salary of teaching staff, but this is not enough, because the success of secondary education reform depends only on teachers. This was stated by the Minister of Education Liliya Hrynevych during a visit to the Rivne region.
According to her, local councils do not consider new revenues to local budgets, which they received as a result of decentralization, as potential expenses for education.
"We constantly live between the desired and the possible. Next year, it will be possible to raise the salary of teaching staff by 50%, but this is not enough. We have to significantly support teachers - the success of the changes we are starting today depends on them alone. Update of primary school programs, implementation of the New Ukrainian School - all these changes depend on whether we can work together as a single team," said Liliya Hrynevych.
Liliya Hrynevych noted that it is very important to provide money in local budgets for salary increases for teachers whose salaries are paid by the local government. In particular, preschool education workers whose salaries are financed from local budgets.
As you know, the government plans to raise the wages of Ukrainian teachers, in particular, from January 1, 2017, a teacher of the highest category should receive from UAH 5,266 to UAH 6,841, a teacher without a category will receive from UAH 3,960 to 4,853.
