The CEDOS Analytical Center invites you to attend the debate on public financing of higher education in Ukraine and abroad.
The debate will take place on February 27 in Kyiv at 11:00 a.m. at the IBIS Hotel (25 Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, Alpha Hall).
Participants in the debate will be analysts and government officials from Ukraine, Poland and Austria:
Inna Sovsun (First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine);
Michal Mianskiewicz (graduate of Harvard University, ex-head of the system analysis group of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland, director of programs of the Foundation for Quality Education, Poland);
Heribert Wulz (deputy head of the department of higher education of the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economics of Austria, one of the authors of the book "Universities compete" (Universitäten im Wettbewerb);
Olga Kupets (World Bank expert, associate professor of the Department of Economic Theory of the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy"; her scientific interests are focused on issues of the labor market, migration and human rights);
Dominik Antonovych (Doctor of Sociological Sciences, educational analyst, graduate of the University of Birmingham, professor at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland);
Tom Kupe (Professor, leading researcher at the Kyiv School of Economics; his research interests are focused on the economics of education, labor economics, and political economy).
Moderator of the debate: Yehor Stadny (executive director of the CEDOS analytical center).
At the event, 4 blocks of questions will be considered:
– Private or public funds: who should cover costs in the field of higher education?
- Who should be financed: students or institutions?
– Block grants and performance-based funding: pros and cons?
- Is it possible to measure productivity in the field of higher education?
The working languages of the debates are Ukrainian and English. The organizers provide simultaneous translation.
