"Taking into account certain facts received by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, I believe that placing portraits of the Minister of Education and Science and other civil servants in educational institutions is unacceptable.
The school should instill in children the ability to think critically and independently. It should not accustom students to flattery, respect for office or the cult of leaders.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science of Ukraine recommends placing for general inspection, first of all, state symbols, portraits of historical figures and graduates of which educational institutions are proud. These can be, in particular, those who distinguished themselves by protecting the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine." - said the Minister in his address.
