On August 9, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Serhii Kvit, spoke about reforms in the industry on the live broadcast of "Facts" on the ICTV channel. This time it was about the quality of secondary education. The results of this year's ZNO clearly demonstrated that changes are necessary and decisive.
So, in particular, curricula will be unloaded, they will become more interesting, because it is necessary to teach the child to learn, the minister is sure. In addition, the MES also thought about motivating teachers for professional improvement. Now their salary level will depend on their qualifications. Initially, teacher certification will be voluntary. At the same time, noted Serhiy Kvit, it is impossible to improve the quality of education without a significant increase in salaries. Therefore, the salary of educators will definitely be increased as soon as the economic indicators allow it.
The studio also raised the issue of rural schools whose graduates cannot compete with others during the admissions campaign.
For the most part, this applies to small schools that need to be enlarged. If, say, there are eight students and eight teachers in a school, of course, such a school is of poor quality. And the main problem is not even related to finances, but to the quality of education. "These children will never be able to enter the university, because we are deceiving them that we are giving them a good education," the Minister of Education emphasized. However, they plan to leave elementary schools even in the smallest village.
