Since the beginning of the year, more than 40 Russian universities, including Moscow State University and Higher Higher Education Institution, have been delaying the payment of scholarships.
Khromov notes that students complain about the delay of all types of scholarships. "It is particularly alarming that the social stipend, which the university is obliged to pay every month, is being delayed. For its recipients, especially in regional universities, payment is of the utmost importance: students actually live on this money, they have no other sources of income," he emphasized.
In a number of cases, representatives of the higher education administration asked the students to "be patient, as the money went to more important matters for the country." Some universities noted that there were indeed delays in payments. According to Artem Khromov, the first complaints about the delay of scholarships began to arrive at his hotline at the end of January. At the same time, messages about non-payment of money appeared on social networks.
