Soon, Ukraine plans to update the mechanism for testing the knowledge and skills of students of vocational education institutions.

This was stated by Serhiy Babak, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Innovation. He explained that the principle is being introduced: "Some teach, others test".

For this purpose, independent qualification centres will be created, which can be established by both educational institutions and employers. The goal is to avoid situations where those who teach are also responsible for the final assessment, which often leads to employers' dissatisfaction with the level of graduates' training.

It is expected that this approach will also facilitate and accelerate the retraining of adults, in particular those returning from military service.

In addition, the qualification centres will provide an opportunity to obtain an official document even for those who have acquired knowledge outside the formal education system.

"Any skills acquired during the courses or even online will be able to be confirmed by passing a theoretical and practical exam and receiving a certificate recognised by the state and employers. This will allow you to enter the labour market with confirmed qualifications faster," Babak emphasised.
