The Cabinet of Ministers approved the decision to allocate UAH 483 million to territorial communities for the implementation of the "Internet Subsidy" project.
According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the project will have a social effect, as thanks to it already this year more than a million Ukrainians will have the opportunity to connect to the optical Internet for the first time.
It is planned that the pre-selected communities will receive money from the state budget to conduct transparent tenders, after which the providers will start building the network.
It is expected that the implementation of the project will allow connecting 3,652 villages with over 11,000 social facilities to the optical Internet for the first time. Among them are schools, kindergartens, libraries, cultural centers and other objects of social infrastructure.
In addition, Wi-Fi network coverage will be provided for each of the facilities at the expense of the subvention, thanks to which every visitor will be able to use high-speed Internet.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation emphasizes that institutions connected with subvention funds will receive free high-speed Internet by the end of 2022.
The results of the distribution of funds, as well as the list of communities and villages, the number of social institutions that will receive connections can be viewed in the dashboard.
