The Ministry of Education and Science prepared a report on the department's activities during the 100 days of the new government. The report lists the achievements of the Ministry of Education, which were implemented during the specified period.
In particular, the Ministry of Education and Culture notes that the problems with the delay in the production of education documents were resolved, and graduates of the 9th and 11th grades received their certificates and certificates on time.
Also, 218 titles of school textbooks with a circulation of 7.8 million copies and 24 titles with a circulation of 26.6 thousand copies for children with special educational needs have already been purchased. The MES notes that eighth-graders will receive textbooks on time by September 1. A fundamentally new procedure for selecting textbooks is being prepared for 2017.
From September 1, 139 new support schools in 24 regions will start working. Children from understaffed schools will be transferred to better learning conditions. As of July 22, 197 new school buses were purchased.
Another achievement of the Ministry of Education and Culture is the adoption of a new sanitary regulation for preschool educational institutions. In particular, opportunities for the creation and operation of preschool educational institutions of various forms of ownership have been expanded. Work has begun on the simplification of sanitary regulations for schools.
The Ministry of Education and Culture also informed about the update of elementary school programs. For the first time, the discussion of programs took place on the open Ed-Era platform. 8.5 thousand comments and suggestions were received from 4 thousand participants. The result of such activity was the unloading and modernization of 14 educational programs for grades 1-4. In particular, information that does not correspond to the age characteristics of children was removed, the practical focus was increased, and duplication was removed. From September 1, students of grades 1-4 will study according to updated programs.
In 2018, the competencies of 15-year-old Ukrainian schoolchildren will be assessed. In July, the agreement on Ukraine's accession to PISA was signed and submitted to the OECD secretariat for their signature.
The Ministry has developed and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada the draft law "On Education". The concept of the New Ukrainian School has been prepared for public discussion.
Local budgets received a stabilization subsidy for vocational training. The subsidy will be given to 20 cities in which the expenditure on financing vocational training is greater than 20% of their budget.
The MES also notes that in 2016, state orders for military, medical and IT specialties were increased by 12.31 TP3T. And the electronic submission of documents to universities led to the disappearance of queues at admissions committees. The system of priorities and automatic distribution of state orders cancels "waves" of enrollment and prevents possible abuse and corruption.
Another achievement of the Ministry of Education is the improvement of the higher education system. In particular, the decree of the CMU "On the creation of the National Repository of Academic Texts" was adopted, and draft resolutions of the CMU were prepared, which will allow the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education to launch in the fall of 2016.
