Preventive preventive measures to prevent measles epidemic

Preventive preventive and anti-epidemic measures are being implemented in the capital to prevent the worsening of the epidemiological situation due to the incidence of measles. This decision was made following the results of the meeting of the commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergency situations. Mykola Povoroznyk, the first deputy chairman of the KMDA, announced this during a briefing.

"First of all, in children's groups, it is necessary to check children for the presence of vaccinations against measles. Children who do not have vaccinations or an appropriate certificate from a doctor will not be allowed to attend school and preschool educational institutions of all forms of ownership. Of course, the relevant announcement will be posted in educational institutions in advance," noted Mykola Povoroznyk.

According to him, such a decision will allow to reduce contact between children during the possible incubation period for measles and, accordingly, reduce the probability of the disease in children's groups.

Mykola Povoroznyk separately noted that no quarantine was announced in the capital, but precautionary preventive and anti-epidemic measures were introduced to prevent a measles epidemic for a period of 21 days.

"Executive authorities, enterprises, institutions, organizations and educational institutions will work in the mode of strengthening preventive measures. The heads of the institutions received recommendations on a special mode of maintenance of the premises: compliance with the temperature regime, regular ventilation of the premises and wet cleaning with the use of disinfectants. In addition, it is recommended to limit the holding of sports and cultural mass events," said Mykola Povoroznyk, First Deputy Chairman of the KMDA.

He noted that since the beginning of 2018, the intensity of the epidemic process has increased significantly. Thus, as of January 10, 2018, 61 cases of measles were registered, of which 49 were among children. According to preliminary data, almost all patients were not vaccinated against measles due to refusal. Children of different age groups are sick. 13 cases were registered among children of preschool educational institutions, 22 cases among schoolchildren. Also, 1 case of a primary school teacher was registered.

"We call on parents to take a responsible and understanding approach to the current situation, and first of all think about the health of their children. Currently, vaccination against measles can be done in all polyclinic institutions of the capital, which are maximally equipped with vaccines," noted Mykola Povoroznyk.
