The Ministry of Education and Science has published data on the minimum price of contract education in each of the 160 institutions that train students of higher education under the Ministry of Education and Science.
"In 2020, the minimum contract tuition price cannot be less than 60% from the funding allocated by the state per one budget student at a specific university. This only applies to the 38 most popular majors and will apply to students entering in 2020, and will not affect those already enrolled. Actually, even among the future first-year students, the innovation will affect a maximum of 16% of this year's recruitment", - said Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Yehor Stadny.
The minimum tuition fee (indicative cost price) takes into account people's income and cannot be higher than 3 average salaries in the region. It applies to 38 of the most popular specialties in state universities and those private ones that will receive state funding. Among them: law, economics, political science, management, marketing, international relations, design, tourism, specialties in the fields of information technology and some specialties in the field of health care, in particular dentistry, pharmacy, pediatrics, etc. The full list of specialties is published on the website of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The indicative cost of training on a contract in 2020 varies between 6 and 39 thousand hryvnias. At the same time, in almost 100 universities and institutions of professional pre-higher education, the minimum contract value will not exceed 20,000 hryvnias. And the highest indicative cost of education is established only in nine institutions.
The introduction of the indicative cost price is due to the fact that the price of training on the contract does not correspond to the actual costs incurred by the institution, which affects the quality and conditions of training. The introduction of a minimum price for contract training will bring tuition fees in line with actual costs and increase teachers' wages.
We would like to remind you that the Cabinet of Ministers adopted the decision to introduce the indicative cost of education on March 3, 2020.
