The Ministry of Finance selected 24 supporting schools for the "pilot" project. This was reported by the press service of the financial department.
The Ministry of Finance notes that this project was initiated jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science and became possible thanks to the support of a group of donors, including the US Government, the Western NIS Enterprise Fund, as well as Microsoft Ukraine, which agreed to provide technical assistance in equipping support educational institutions.
The goal of the project is to improve the quality of education of children living and studying in villages and towns, and to increase the efficiency of the use of public funds allocated for financing education.
As part of the project, one school in each region was selected to receive funds for the development of the material and technical base. The specified school will be able to receive resources for the repair of premises, educational equipment and information and computer technologies to ensure high quality secondary education for children from rural areas.
The Ministry of Finance reports that the selection of supporting schools was carried out by independent representatives of the project with the participation of international donors, the Western NIS Enterprise Fund and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Preference was given to schools that, as part of the optimization, will be consolidated at the expense of small-format schools.
"In this way, students from rural areas will have the opportunity to obtain high-quality secondary education, which will become the basis for further education and career growth," the Ministry of Finance assured.
It is planned that on September 1, 2016, the renovated educational institutions will be able to open their doors to schoolchildren.
