Minister of Education Liliya Hrynevych assures that teachers are not the lowest-paid category of state employees. She said this on Radio Svoboda, commenting on the data of the State Employment Service, according to which, according to the results of 2017, nurses, doctors, teachers and educators receive the lowest wages in Ukraine.
According to her, after the salary increase, the teacher at the school receives from six to eight thousand hryvnias.
"Teachers in 2017 made extraordinary progress. As of January 1, 2017, the salary of teachers was increased to 50%. In the single tariff grid, we moved them up by two tariff categories. Now the salary is from six to eight thousand hryvnias. If there are allowances, as in the city of Kyiv, even for managers, there may be 10,000 hryvnias," the minister said.
At the same time, Lilia Hrynevych admits that this is not enough.
In 2018, salary increases for kindergarten teachers and educators are also planned.
"Teachers (kindergartens - ed.) were raised on September 1, 2017. From January 1, teachers will receive a raise again by approximately 25%, all state employees, including educators and others, will have a raise of 10%. And from September 1, 2018, we will propose that local budgets make an increase, which we do at the expense of the central state subvention for teachers and for other categories of pedagogical workers," said Liliya Hrynevych.
