The Ministry of Education and Culture prepared and sent a letter regarding the structure of the 2017/2018 academic year and curricula to the education management bodies of the regional and Kyiv City State Administrations, Institutes of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education and general educational institutions.

In particular, the letter specifies the period within which the academic year should begin and end, and how long the vacation should last. It is also about who makes the decision on the introduction of quarantine, determines the date of the "Last Bell" and the handing over of education documents.

The Ministry of Education notes that the academic year in general educational institutions, regardless of subordination, types and forms of ownership, should begin on the Day of Knowledge - September 1 and end no later than July 1, 2018. The duration of vacations during the academic year cannot be less than 30 calendar days, excluding days when children stopped studying for reasons beyond their control - quarantine, temperature regime, etc.

Separately, the document contains recommendations for the development of working curricula: requirements for the design, content, distribution of subjects of variable and invariant components, experimental and individual curricula, the possibility of joining the piloting of new Standard curricula for high school.
