Thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2019, 164 projects of Ukrainian Saturday and Sunday schools abroad were supported.
Alla Poleva, director of the Department of Communications and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced this during the conference "Prospects of teaching and learning Ukrainian as a foreign language", organized by the Ukrainian Institute and the National Commission for State Language Standards.
According to the head of the department, Ukraine provides financial assistance to Ukrainian Saturday and Sunday schools, helps to provide them with textbooks, methodical manuals and notebooks.
There are currently 193 such schools operating in 42 countries of the world. In addition, the Ukrainian language is taught in one way or another at 69 faculties in 25 countries of the world, Alla Poleva reported.
"Unfortunately, today there is no Ukrainian school in the full sense of the word, with teaching not just in Ukrainian, but from the first to the last grade," the speaker summarized.
