The head of the parliamentary committee on education, science and innovation, Serhiy Babak, proposes to provide additional financial opportunities for the development of programs in education and science in the draft State budget.

In particular, he emphasized the need to increase budget expenditures for the development and renewal of educational institutions, scientific research, as well as providing schools with resources for organizing education in pandemic conditions.

"I made proposals to the State Budget 2021 project that will create additional opportunities to develop education and science both in 2021 and in the following years. Well, you can't save on education and science. Because in the long term, no one will even have the expertise to prepare that State Budget," the head of the specialized parliamentary committee emphasized.

According to him, in 2021, it is necessary to increase funding for the development and renewal of schools, vocational schools and scientific research by more than UAH 1 billion.

In addition, according to Serhiy Babak, it is necessary to allocate UAH 2 billion for the development of education and science, in particular for the financing of fire-fighting measures in educational institutions, for subventions for the purchase of school buses, subventions for the provision of food for children who suffered from hostilities and improvement of material and technical bases of educational institutions on the contact line.

Also, the chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Innovation proposes to increase State Budget expenditures for the support of scientific objects that are national property, a compensation program for higher education institutions and scientific institutions for accreditation services, and for training applicants from temporarily occupied territories on preparatory courses.
